… another rotation of moms and dads arrived at work to discover that they should have blocked POTUS on their tween sons’ Twitter accounts. What an example for boys the age of his own son!

You have to ask yourself why God would have instituted love at all and incorporated it in the human makeup (and possibly – probably –  also that of other animals).  We could have been created devoid any emotions at all.  Why give us love?  Why did God do that to us?

Since we have it, why does man do this,  especially to a family member, a daughter,  who should be loved instead of being seen as chattel?  Why to an unborn, innocent, loved and wanted child?

There is a human right to love.  God gave us the capacity.  It was intentional and is a mystery.  That right to love, whomever, must be respected and protected.  No one and no government or religion should ever stand against anyone’s God-given right to love.

Pregnant Pakistani woman stoned to death by family

Associated Press

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — A pregnant woman was stoned to death Tuesday by her own family outside a courthouse in the Pakistani city of Lahore for marrying the man she loved.

The woman was killed while on her way to court to contest an abduction case her family had filed against her husband. Her father was promptly arrested on murder charges, police investigator Rana Mujahid said, adding that police were working to apprehend all those who participated in this “heinous crime.”

Arranged marriages are the norm among conservative Pakistanis, and hundreds of women are murdered every year in so-called honor killings carried out by husbands or relatives as a punishment for alleged adultery or other illicit sexual behavior.

Zerlina Maxwell does not think women carrying guns is sensible rape prevention.  She received quite a reaction to statements she made to this effect in a Hannity segment.  Here is her story along with a sample of the kind of tweets she has been receiving since the show aired.

There may be some women who carry and know how to use a gun for self-protection.  As long as they are trained and competent and keep the weapons away from irresponsible hands, that is fine.  Not every woman wants to go that route.  We should not have to and should not be made to feel we ought to.

Not having a handy weapon to fend off an attacker (or multiple attackers)  is not what generates rape.  Thinking that the penis you were born with was meant to be used as a weapon is.

Telling women to get a gun is not rape prevention

By zerlina | Published: March 7, 2013

On Tuesday night, I appeared on Hannity in a segment framed around the idea that giving women guns is the solution to ending rape.  I was on with Independent Women’s Forum’s Gayle Trotter who recently made the point that women need guns for self defense from rape and gun violence prevention is infringing on their second Amendment rights, as well as, putting them at greater risk for domestic violence and rape.

Obviously, I disagreed.  Giving every woman a gun is not rape prevention.  If a woman chooses to go out and buy a legal gun for self-defense, that’s fine.  But that shouldn’t be confused with actual prevention, which is really about stopping rapes before they happen and focusing on the sole party responsible: the rapist.

Since Tuesday, I’ve been bombarded by conservatives on Facebook and Twitter purposefully misquoting and misunderstanding my point in order to call me dumb, bitch, idiot, and at worst threaten to gang rape common sense into me.  Charming.

On February 7,  after at least a week of my friends and I following and discussing the “verified” status of a Twitter account called VerifiedClinton but lacking the blue verified check from Twitter,  I went to battle against that Twitter account for impersonating Hillary Clinton.  At Still4Hill,  I posted this  first volley:  NOT Official Hillary Clinton and UNverified.

I shared the post in the usual places on Facebook and Twitter and also specifically directed the tweet to  Vote_Hillary which had been touting it as genuinely Hillary Clinton’s official Twitter account.  I was immediately blocked after being told in no uncertain terms that it was really Hillary.

In the ensuing weeks, my homegirls and I kept an eye on the bogus account.   Tuesday morning, “Verified” was advertising a Q & A with Hillary herself.  Since the account was not Hillary, and this was fraud, I did a little detective work and called him on it.  You can see the process here.  Pay special attention to the comments thread.  That is where the mystery was solved.    Hillary Clinton’s Twitter Impersonator @VerifiedClinton is a Man – See His Picture Here.

Here is what happened next.  Note To Potential Hillary Clinton Impersonators: Don’t Even THINK About It!

The VerifiedClinton account is down.  So I moseyed over to Twitter a little while ago to see how the VerifiedClinton takedown was going and saw this tweet.

FYI Hillary Tweeters — @VerifiedClinton is a FAKE TWITTER and Twitter FINALLY Shut it Down Today After 3 Months. #HillaryClinton

Thing is,  Vote_Hillary, which is associated with GlobalYouthJustice,  still has me blocked for saying VerifiedClinton was fake.    Where is the justice in that?

This blog began in order to wage, and has largely been devoted to,  defense – defense of Hillary and other women.  Occasionally,  we have celebrated women in the trenches fighting the good fight like the Nuns on the Bus and Karen Finney outing ALEC.   It never occurred to me that I would need to defend myself, however, I feel I have been treated unfairly by Vote_Hillary when my sisters and I were proven correct.   It is especially ironic that I was summarily blocked by a fellow Hillary supporter who ignored the very valid reasons I gave for my argument.

So I  wanted Vote_Hillary‘s followers to know exactly how just GlobalYouthJustice is.    I was not even given the courtesy of a hearing.  I was slammed and blocked – as I remain tonight.   I was right.  VerifiedClinton was neither verified nor genuine, but by all means, Vote_Hillary, shoot first and aim later.  Perfect way to win and gather Hillary supporters.

Fans of the lovely and lively Ms. Finney were overjoyed to  see her finally have a go at guest-hosting on Thursday and Friday of  last week when she filled in for Martin Bashir.  We hoped she would make a big splash and capture the attention of execs at MSNBC who might consider giving her a show of her own.  I doubt that any of us ever dreamed that we would see her attacked unfairly, misquoted, and abused the way we have for the past few days on Twitter.

Like some warped version of The Telephone Game,  Hate-Tweeters have twisted her words and worse claimed she said things that she did not. People whose attention spans do not exceed 140 characters retweet without checking to see what she really said.  The videos and transcripts are all available at  the Bashir Live homepage, but let us not waste valuable retweeting time looking for the truth!

Ms. Finney organized and presented some compelling programming.  Of  course she covered the story of the week, the Trayvon Martin case.  The language used by the accused perpetrator, George Zimmerman on 911 record,  not Ms. Finney, is what brought race into the discussion.   She along with her panel presented the facts as they found them.  So what did Karen do to precipitate this hailstorm of hate on Twitter?

There is a “B” word that I have yet to hear in connection with the Trayvon Martin case.  With all of the attention being paid in this country to bullying, I have not heard the suggestion that as a self-identified authority figure, George Zimmerman may have bullied Trayvon Martin.  We do not like thinking about that kind of bullying.  We do not want kids bullying other kids, but I notice a resistance to suggestions that authority figures also bully.  Some teachers do, coaches do, and yes, security and police personnel also do.   Karen did not raise this issue, but if the latest Zimmerman information, that he is injured, is true, it could be consistent with Trayvon fighting back – against a bully.

Having raised that “B” word, I find what is happening to Karen on the Twitter feed also a form of bullying.  The attacks are merciless, and the “quotes”  have no basis in fact.  It is hate talk and very dangerous.  I still cannot fathom why it is Karen who receives this treatment.  I hope it is not rooted  in sexism, racism or both,  and I certainly hope it is not because she is beautiful and brilliant.  We have seen enough of that!  Thanks to Ryan Olsen for the picture.
