WHAT TO SAY WHEN THE GUY NEXT TO YOU ON THE SUBWAY IS MANSPREADING…
You’re in my space. That’s what Iraqi troops are getting ready to say to ISIS. Yesterday, the Pentagon said it’s sending another 560 US troops to Iraq to prep for a battle to retake Mosul. But, just like the 4,000+ that are already there, these won’t be combat troops. They’re just helping out behind the scenes on things like engineering and intel. Mosul is Iraq’s second-largest city. When ISIS took it over in 2014, it was the ‘oh sh*t’ moment that made the world sit up and pay attention to the group. Mosul has been ISIS’s HQ in Iraq ever since. But Iraqi troops have been moving in on the group’s territory, with the US-led coalition playing Robin to their Batman. Now, Mosul is the last major city ISIS has control over. The problem? As the group loses territory, it has focused more on lashing out with terrorist attacks in Iraq and around the world. So these days, any major wins also come with a side of caution.
Manspreading is not the best idea.
