@MetropolisHaiti Nancy Roc METROPOLIS CONFIRME L’ARRIVÉE DE DUVALIER EN HAÏTI.
Well, this is less than helpful, with the country in disarray and the election contested. While René Préval retains the presidency, at least nominally, for the time being, this development does not bode well. Préval was never a strong president. This time last year, in the aftermath of the quake, he did little to reassure his people, leaving the work of representing the government on the ground to PM Jean-Max Bellerive, who is an excellent and strong leader and did a yeoman’s job. There may be many who had some kind of local power under both Duvaliers who might wish to return to those days which were not the best for the Haitian public in general. This comes under the heading of: Things were not bad enough….
At best, his presence in the country from which he was ousted could contribute to unrest, not a happy prospect.
Ousted president Duvalier returning to Haiti: diplomat
16.01.2011 – A man holds a poster of former Haitian president Jean-Claude Duvalier during a demonstration in Port-au-Prince in 2010. Duvalier, ousted from power by a popular revolt in the 1980s, is heading back to Haiti where he is expected to arrive later Sunday, a diplomatic source in Paris said.
Bad news. Haiti does not need the second coming of Baby Doc.

No! I found Nancy Roc’s FB page and “liked” it. The comments from Haitians reflect their “joy” *tongue deep in cheek* at this development. Americans should be concerned too for Haiti and also for the way he stole American aid when he was in power and has been LIVING on it. He should be in the National Penitentiary!
Nancy is a great news source on this.

To the person who made the comment (unpublished) about unrest addressed to his “liberal friends” – talk to me after the VSN (or the like) has held a rifle to your head! I have had that unpleasant experience.
Haiti does not need another tour with this dictator. Yes, unrest does result from unhappiness and frustration. That alone might have warranted publication (had it really represented an insight), but references to polar stances – especially sarcastic ones – strike me as so much name-calling. So, no. I will not publish your comment.

I just looked at her wall and didn’t see anything political. It never surprises me anymore when I see former Hillary women turn to Palin, but I just don’t understand it.

Sigh. I remember back in 2008 that Regency admired Palin’s political talent but didn’t see Palin as any substitute for Hillary.
Jillforhill, could you link to something? I don’t see anything new posted on Afrocity’s blog since December.
While it’s not fun to see the Palin converts, I think they are really much rarer than they seem in the magnifying glass of the blogosphere. I think the vast majority of Hillary’s supporters have stuck by her.

I think you’re right. Activists in the blogosphere tend to be very passionate , and passionate people can be fickle – not all – and not necessarily, but they can be. Some of my Hillary friends are easily fed up.
